Classic is the best selling model of RE.
Royal Enfield sold 28,634 motorcycles overall in the last month as against the 19,312 units they had sold in December 2013. This shows a hike in sales by 48 per cent in combined domestic wholesale and exports for the manufacturer.
The company sold 28,179 motorcycles in the country in December 2014 while they had sold 19,067 units in the same month in 2013. This again shows a boost of 48 per cent in domestic sales. The exports for last month stood at 455 units when they were 245 in the same period in 2013 showing an 86 per cent growth.
The overall year-on-year sales report also shows 70 per cent of increase in sales as 3,02,591 units were sold in 2014 as against 1,78,120 units in 2013. Out of these 2,96,370 motorcycles were sold within the country while 6,221 were exported this year. The manufacturer had sold 1,73,864 units in the domestic market and 4,256 motorcycles overseas in 2013.
Royal Enfield launched the updated Classic 350 in India in 2009 along with the Classic 500. The Classic 350 is the smaller twin of the Classic 500 with the same features but with a smaller mill which is also seen on the Thunderbird.
The Classic 350 is powered by a 346cc engine that churns out 19.8bhp of power and 28Nm of torque. Though the torque has decreased marginally, the power figure has been increased by a significant 1.8bhp. This mill is carburetted and misses out on the electronic fuel injection (EFI) which the Classic 500 is equipped with.
